Course Description: In this course, students will read plays and view performances of plays in order to develop an understanding of drama as literature. Stage directions, stage areas, subtext, theater conventions (narrator, fourth wall, dramatic time, lapses of time), costuming, lighting, etc. will be analyzed and discussed. Students will perform dramatic readings, write and direct scenes, and complete presentations on a variety of topics related to the genre and/or the topics the various plays address.
